Those blessed enough to travel in premium class have a new reason to jump for joy, with Qantas upping its carry-on allowances for international flights.

Passengers travelling internationally with Qantas in first, business or premium economy can now bring up to 14 kilograms of carry-on luggage.

The new policy aims to bring more flexibility in how carry-on weight is distributed, thanks to an increase in the maximum weight of one item from seven kilograms to 10 kilograms.

Premium passengers can bring one bag weighing up to 10 kilograms (115 centimetres) or two bags (105 centimetres each) with a combined weight of 14 kilograms, (max 10 kilograms for one piece) or one 10-kilogram bag (105 centimetres) and one 185-centimetre soft garment bag.

However, international economy carry-on allowances remain unchanged at seven kilograms.

The news follows the national carrier’s changes to domestic carry-on weight in March, which saw the seven-kilogram limit increase to 10 kilograms, following customer feedback that indicated the former limit was too low.
