Qantas will run a third non-stop flight, on behalf of the Australian Government, to help Australians in Lebanon return home.

The flight, ASY1280, is scheduled to depart Larnaca, Cyprus, on Friday evening and is expected to land in Sydney on Saturday night.

Operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the flight will carry up to 220 passengers with registrations for Australians wishing to board being managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

The flight is provided free of charge to passengers, with the Australian Government covering all costs. Upon arrival in Sydney, Qantas will transport passengers to their nearest domestic airport at no additional expense.

This comes after the successful departure of another Qantas-assisted flight from Cyprus, which arrived with a full load of passengers. A second repatriation flight, ASY1270, is set to depart Larnaca on Wednesday evening, with an expected arrival in Australia on Thursday night.

Qantas has expressed gratitude to its crew and support teams for their efforts in bringing Australians safely home.
