QantasLink’s jet aircraft are getting an A-list upgrade with the rollout of inflight entertainment kicking off across the carrier’s fleet this week.
For the first time, passengers flying with Qantas’ regional service will be able to stream more than 2,500 hours of movies like Cruella and Black Widow, binge-worthy TV series such as Billions and Mare of Easttown, and audiobooks via the Qantas Entertainment app to their own personal device.
Plus, Qantas’ partnership with Stan will also give passengers access to more exclusive TV shows and Stan Original films.
The upgrade will begin this week starting with one of QantasLink’s A320 aircraft and is expected to be available across its entire fleet of jet aircraft by the second half of 2022.
Right now, only passengers flying on QantasLink’s dual-cabin 717 aircraft and the Qantas 737 and A330 domestic fleets have access to inflight entertainment via the Qantas Entertainment App, which can be downloaded via the Apple Store and Google Play prior to departure or accessed through an internet browser.
Qantas Group chief customer officer Stephanie Tully said that when the rollout is complete, inflight entertainment will be available on up to 180 Qantas and QantasLink aircraft.
“This investment means more of our customers will have access to inflight entertainment, particularly when travelling to smaller capital cities and regional centres,” she said.
“In a normal year, our customers watch more than 20 million hours of movies and TV shows while flying with us, so we know our streaming service is incredibly popular, especially on longer domestic routes.
“With Australia’s vaccination rollout gaining momentum, we expect the demand for travel will quickly return as restrictions ease. Improvements like this will make it even better when it does.”
