Qatar Airways has ended its partnership with the Sydney Swans AFL club after nearly a decade as its official airline partner.
The Qatari Government-owned carrier signed first signed a three-year deal with the Swans in 2016, with the most recent renewal, believed to be worth $700,000 a year, signed in 2023.
Qatar Airways branding was prominent at SCG home games, training and on uniforms, with supporters offered flights through on-ground competitions and experiences at Sydney Swans fan days.
“Qatar Airways were a Premier partner of the Sydney Swans for the past decade,” a spokesperson for the AFL club said.
“During this period, Qatar Airways created incredible opportunities for our members and fans. That sponsorship came to a conclusion at the end of 2025 and we are currently contemplating what 2026 might look like.
Internationally, Qatar Airways has high-profile sponsorships of organisations such as FIFA and football clubs such as Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-German, A.S. Roma, as well as the NBA team Brooklyn Nets. Other Middle East carriers that offer sports sponsorship include Emirates and Etihad.
The Sydney Swans open the 2026 AFL season this Thursday night at the SCG, playing Carlton.
