Queensland Tourism Industry Council is extended the deadline for its 2025 tourism award nominations, granting operators extra time to submit their entries for the prestigious industry accolades.
Given a busy season of public holidays, long weekends, the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE25), and Magic Round in Brisbane, QTIC has called extra time by extending the deadline for the Queensland Tourism Awards submissions to Thursday, 23 May 2025.
Now in its 40th year, the Queensland Tourism Awards honour the remarkable achievements of the state’s tourism operators, individuals, businesses, and events across a diverse range of categories.
“For four decades, these awards have recognised and celebrated the passion and commitment that drive our industry forward,” QTIC chief executive officer, Natassia Wheeler, said. “We’re thrilled to see this legacy continue in 2025 as we mark 40 years of acknowledging the best in Queensland tourism.
“We understand the demands on operators during this period with the ongoing flood recoveries across the state, last week’s ATE conference and post famils – plus other major events, so we’ve called extra time to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to take part in the awards.”
The Queensland Tourism Awards Gala Ceremony is the highlight of the calendar, capping off the state’s official Tourism Week – a week that also includes the Destination IQ and DestinationQ Forums. Over 1,000 delegates attend the week’s events to share insights, explore opportunities, and celebrate the industry’s shared success.
“Tourism Week is where industry comes together – not just to celebrate, but to shape the future of Queensland tourism,” Wheeler added. “The Gala Ceremony is an emotional and inspiring night that shines a spotlight on those who go above and beyond.”
The awards program includes 30 categories, such as the RACQ People’s Choice Award, which invites the public to vote for their favourite finalist. Gold winners on the night progress to represent Queensland at the Australian Tourism Awards, competing on a national stage under a framework managed by the Australian Tourism Industry Council.
The judging process remains rigorous and independent, ensuring that recognition is awarded fairly to those who demonstrate excellence in delivering visitor experiences.
