Rail Europe has added Italian regional carrier Arenaways to its rail portfolio, giving travellers and travel professionals easier access to Piedmont’s Slow Food heritage, medieval towns and lesser-known cultural landmarks.

The Arenaways route connects seven stops in Piedmont: Cuneo, Busca, Costigliole Saluzzo, Verzuolo, Manta, Saluzzo and Savigliano. The line opens up an area of Italy that often falls outside traditional rail itineraries.

Travellers can use the route to build a compact slow-travel itinerary centred on Piedmont’s food, culture and local communities. The region holds strong ties to the Slow Food movement, the Italy-founded initiative that promotes local food traditions, biodiversity and small-scale producers.

In the route, travellers can visit the Castello della Manta, which houses a significant collection of late-Gothic secular frescoes, explore Saluzzo’s medieval centre, or stop in Savigliano to see Piazza Santa Rosa, regarded as one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval squares.

Children under four travel free without their own seat, while those aged four to 11 receive a 50 per cent discount. Tickets are available through standard point-to-point fares, allowing travel sellers to fold the regional journeys into broader Italian or European itineraries booked through Rail Europe’s platform.

The Arenaways addition gives travel professionals a fresh option for clients seeking slower, more locally rooted journeys, and opens up a part of Italy that sits outside the country’s best-known tourism corridors.

Rail Europe has operated as a global platform for European train booking for 90 years, providing technology solutions and customer care services to more than 25,000 partners across over 70 countries.

Just last month, Rail Europe expanded its Italian rail offering with the addition of Campania Express.
