Reflections Holidays refurbished a historic bunkhouse and installed six new pod cabins by Copeton Dam at Reflections Copeton Waters.
Workers who built Copeton Dam in the 1960s and ’70s used the bunkhouse as temporary accommodation.
The house’s seven rooms accommodate up to 46 people. It has recently served school camping groups, sporting and business and community groups, and Aboriginal cultural programs. The refurbishment program included refreshing the rooms, commercial kitchen and large common areas, installing new flooring, heating and cooling systems, and improving accessibility.
Meanwhile, Reflections Holidays invested $1.8 million to install the six cabins, each with contemporary furnishings, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor deck facing the dam.
Reflections Copeton Waters sits on the dam’s foreshore. It is about 40kms south of Inverell on Kamilaroi Country in the New England region of NSW. Additionally, the location is a major recreation hub for anglers chasing Murray cod.
“Our Visitor Economy Strategy 2035 is about giving visitors more choice in where they stay,” NSW Minister for Tourism Steve Kamper said. “These new cabins and the refurbished bunkhouse do exactly that – bringing quality, affordable accommodation to a part of the state that deserves more visitors.”
Late last year, Reflections Holidays invested over $900,000 at Tumut River park to support regional tourism.
