An expert judging panel has been busy this week, having narrowed down a competitive list of finalists for the Australian Event Awards 2020.

Among the finalists are major events such as Splendour in the Grass 2019, Santos Tour Down Under 2020 and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 as well as many other events, achievements and technologies.

“In these difficult and challenging times, the standard of this year’s entries to the Australian Event Awards has been spectacular,” Peter Rix, co-chair of the judging panel, said.

“The industry, once again, proved both its resilience and the quality of its work. In every category the entries were exceptional and choosing finalists was no easy feat.”

There were many finalists in the business events sphere, among them are AMP Amplify Digital Program 2020, Salesforce World Tour Reimagined 2020 and Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors Forum 2019.

There are also finalists in the achievements space, including Milestone Creative Australia for their work on Sydney SailGP 2020, EVENTelec for their work in Electrical Infrastructure Supply and Melbourne Cricket Club for their work at the MCG.

The Australian Event Awards has also unveiled plans to proceed with the awards ceremony in a COVID-safe manner by holding simultaneous events in most capital cities on 21 October.

There will be a celebration in Sydney that will serve as the largest of the events with up to 150 people allowed according to current orders from NSW Health. There are also satellite ceremonies already being planned for Brisbane and Perth.

“2020 has been a horror year for Aussie Events,” Ian Steigrad, managing director of the awards, said.

“So we are determined to do anything we can to get everyone together to celebrate the great things that we have achieved prior-to and in some cases in-spite-of the effects of COVID-19.”

Details of venues and ticket sales for each ceremony will be available in the next few weeks.

The full list of finalists is now available on the Event Awards website. Click here to check it out.
