We’re serving up this week’s Road & Rail Wrap with a spoonful of humour, thankfully sans any dad jokes.

Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau goes comedic to highlight rail passes in Kansai

Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau has released a series of videos to highlight seven different styles of travel using rail passes in collaboration with six railway companies in Kansai area.

The bureau recruited two foreign rakugo comedy performers to help introduce Osaka’s nightlife and the charm surrounding the railway area with humour.

Check the first video out below:

UTracks announces half-price savings

Europe active holidays specialist UTracks has announced massive half-price savings on specific departures of its ‘Lyon and Provence Bike and Boat’ journey.

This rare offer is during March and April – arguably the best time to visit Provence, as both the weather and crowds are moderate.

The eight-day relaxed-pace, self-guided cycle holiday along the Rhône River has huge savings for departures on 21 March and 28 March 2020; and 4, 18 and 25 April 2020.

Rail Europe selling tickets for Eurostar’s new direct Amsterdam-London route

Rail Europe is now distributing tickets for the new direct Eurostar route between the Netherlands and the UK, without changing trains in Brussels.

The direct journey from Amsterdam to London takes four hours and 10 minutes, and the service will commence from 30 April.

Uber introduces new safety feature

Ridesharing giant has created a PIN verification feature in Australia to help ensure users that they are always getting into the right car.

After turning PIN verification on, Uber riders will receive a unique four-digit PIN whenever they request a ride. Before entering the car, users are instructed to tell the driver their PIN, and will receive an in-app confirmation once the driver has successfully entered their PIN.

Users can choose to turn on this feature for “added peace of mind on every ride”, according to Uber.
