Children from the Royal Far West Charity’s school in Manly enjoyed an early Christmas as Santa and his loyal elves made a visit to the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour.
The charity is supported by hotel owner Dr. Jerry Schwartz, who organised for high-rise window cleaning entrepreneur Edvaldo Godoy to ‘sleigh’ (well, abseil) down the face of the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour in full Santa outfit, accompanied by his chosen elves to celebrate the Christmas festive season.
Santa and his elves were met four storeys up by Jerry’s 15-year-old son Dane and friend Lachlan Millard, who unfurled a banner encouraging Sydneysiders to “Be Happy” over the festive season.
At the base of the Sofitel, they were eagerly welcomed by over 40 children and parents from the two charities.
Santa delivered gifts for the children, who were then treated to a silver service afternoon tea at the Sofitel.
“We do this event annually because it delivers so much joy to the kids and their parents,” Dr. Schwarz said. “The team at Royal Far West goes out of their way to create a positive and welcoming environment for children, and given it is the end of year, we wanted to leave the kids with unique memories of seeing Santa coming down a skyscraper with bags full of treats.”
