With the FIFA World Cup™ now in its knockout stages and global attention fixed on North America, a new SBS series is exploring how food is becoming as central to the fan experience as the football itself.
Adam Liaw’s North American Fan Feasts, a six-part series produced by i8 Studio, follows chef and presenter Adam Liaw across Canada, Mexico and the United States, examining how fan culture, national identity and local cuisine intersect around the tournament.
The series offers a timely case study in culinary tourism – highlighting how host destinations are using food experiences to draw visitors beyond stadium precincts and encourage deeper exploration of host cities, even as the tournament heads toward its 19 July final. Episodes cover Vancouver, Los Angeles, Mexico City (two instalments), San Francisco and British Columbia, pairing local food stories with recipes viewers can recreate at home.
The series launched Monday 6 July, with the first three episodes now available as a boxset on SBS On Demand:
EP1 – Vancouver – SBS Food, 6 July
EP2 – Los Angeles – SBS Food, 13 July
EP3 – Mexico City (Part 1) – SBS Food, 20 July
A second boxset follows on 27 July:
EP4 – San Francisco – SBS Food, 27 July
EP5 – Mexico City (Part 2) – SBS Food, 3 August
EP6 – British Columbia – SBS Food, 10 August
