Scenic celebrated its 30th birthday at a lavish event for travel agents and suppliers at the Park Hyatt, Sydney last night.
Guests were treated to a trip down memory lane, following the footsteps of Scenic’s owner and founder, Glen Moroney as he set off to launch the company in Newcastle.
“We are so grateful to all our industry supporters that have been with us over the past 30 years. We have evolved so much as a company in that time and we appreciate how everyone has contributed to our success so it has been great to celebrate together,” GM Sales and Marketing, Michelle Black said.
Since beginning life as a domestic coach tour operator travelling the Great Ocean Road in 1986, the luxury travel operator has evolved to become one of Australia’s most successful travel companies – now specialising in cruising, and travelling to every continent and over 60 countries across the globe.
A global rebrand last year resulted in a new name and positioning to better reflect the company’s focus on cruising and focussed on the concept of wonder.
“We have had a very busy year since our successful rebrand, further developing our global river cruise offering with four new ships launching in three new destinations plus the announcement of Scenic Eclipse – our first foray into luxury ocean cruising. There is no slowing down in 2017 as we prepare to help our guests discover a whole new world of wonder with the launch of Scenic Eclipse in 2018,” Black said.
After 30 years Scenic is still 100% Australian-owned and employs over 1,600 staff around the world.
