SeaLink North Queensland and Lexus of Townsville were set to offer a spectacular two-hour SeaLink Sunset Cruise – Special Event featuring Matt Hall Racing acrobatic air display at The Strand in Townsville tonight (Friday 21 June), in support of Cancer Council Queensland.
Set against the stunning backdrop of The Strand in Townsville, and departing from SeaLink Breakwater Terminal, this unique event will combine the thrill of world-class aerobatics with the serene beauty of a Townsville sunset, all from the comfort of a spacious, air-conditioned SeaLink catamaran.
Matt Hall, a Red Bull Air Race world champion, and former Royal Australian Air Force top gun fighter pilot’s aerobatic show was watched from the best vantage point on the water aboard a modern SeaLink vessel while guests indulged in a selection of hot and cold canapés prepared by Michel’s Catering.
“This sunset cruise offers a unique blend of high-flying excitement and tranquil coastal beauty, perfect for aviation enthusiasts, sunset lovers, and anyone seeking an unforgettable evening out,” SeaLink North Queensland general manager, Darren Spearman, said.
“Additionally, with $20 of each ticket sold going to Cancer Council Queensland to benefit the Townsville Regional Support Centre and the important work they do for the community, it brings a significant and heartfelt purpose to this unforgettable experience.”
Andrew Donne, Cancer Council Queensland CEO, said he was incredibly grateful to have SeaLink onboard for the spectacle.
“Not only adds excitement, but also helps us achieve our mission of leading Queenslanders in a partnership against cancer. By raising much needed funds, we can continue our life saving research, prevention, and support services so no Queenslander is left navigating cancer alone. Their commitment and generosity underscores the power of community in making a difference for those affected by cancer.”
Lexus of Townsville, Group Business Development Manager, Rebecca Gravelle, said: “This event is another incredible example of how important local partnerships and collaboration are in providing support for essential community services.
“By partnering with SeaLink who is donating a portion of the sunset cruise ticket sales to Cancer Council Queensland, we are able to make a more meaningful contribution to individuals navigating cancer diagnosis and treatment within the Townsville community.”
