Silversea has launched a series of immersive voyages across Japan designed to showcase the country’s iconic cherry blossom season at its most captivating.
Guests cam stroll beneath the blossoms of Inokashira Park in Tokyo, marvel at the petals framing Himeji Castle, and share in the centuries-old tradition of hanami at Nara Park. Timed to coincide with the Sakura bloom, select Silversea Japan voyages in 2026 have offered access to some of the destination’s most sought-after seasonal experiences, inviting travellers to explore Japan through a blend of cultural immersion, natural beauty and long-standing traditions.
This season, voyages onboard Silver Nova and Silver Moon delivered immersive travel experiences across both iconic destinations and lesser-visited ports. Itineraries featured Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo, alongside smaller destinations offering a more in-depth perspective of Japan’s cultural heritage and seasonal highlights.
Shore excursion highlights include:
- UNESCO World Heritage explorations in Shirakawago and Gokayama, offering insight into Japan’s traditional rural architecture
- Visits to Hirosaki Castle in the Aomori region, known for its historic significance and seasonal cherry blossom views
- Cultural immersion in Kyoto, with access to temples, gardens and traditional districts
- Experiences in Hiroshima, including visits to Peace Memorial Park and surrounding heritage sites
Scenic exploration in destinations such as Kagoshima and Beppu, showcasing Japan’s natural landscapes and geothermal features Looking ahead, Silversea continues to build on this offering with a range of cherry blossom voyages as part of its 2027-2028 deployment. Example sailings include:
- Silver Muse – 29 March 2027: Tokyo to Yokohama (Tokyo), taking in destinations such as Shimizu (for views of Mount Fuji), Kanazawa, Hakodate and Aomori, showcasing a diverse journey from Japan’s iconic landscapes to its northern regions during the spring bloom
- Silver Moon – 20 March 2027: Tokyo roundtrip voyage focused on Japan’s cultural and historic centres, including Kobe, Hiroshima and Kanazawa, as well as lesser-visited ports such as Miyako, timed to coincide with the early stages of the cherry blossom season
- Silver Moon – 3 April 2027: Tokyo roundtrip voyage extending into South Korea, offering a broader regional journey alongside Japan’s peak bloom
- Additional sailings across March and April 2028, including Yokohama-Tokyo and Tokyo roundtrip itineraries timed to coincide with the Sakura season
The programme also includes the brand’s first-ever summer season in Japan, alongside the introduction of expedition voyages aboard Silver Cloud in the region, offering access to more remote destinations and a new, immersive way to explore Japan.
