Silversea Cruises has returned to sailing in Japanese waters after almost three years, with Silver Muse arriving in Kagoshima on a 14-day voyage from Singapore to Osaka.

Silver Muse will also make her first Japan intensive sailing from March 15 with a 14-day voyage departing and returning from Osaka.

“We are delighted to be back in Japanese waters after three years,” managing director APAC, Silversea Cruises, Adam Radwanski, said.

Spirits are high as we return to one of our most in-demand destinations. Silversea will sail from March to May to take full advantage of the cherry blossom season, followed by an autumnal colour season of sailings from September to October.”

“Silversea is thrilled to have been welcomed in such a celebratory manner by local government and port authorities in Japan on our long-awaited return, with folk music events, as well as pier ceremonies in which our staff were presented with welcome gifts in both Kagoshima and Osaka.”

On the round trip, Osaka to Osaka sailing, travellers on board Silver Muse will experience the cherry blossom gardens of Kagoshima and discover regions of Japan that are less explored.

This sailing includes a call in Kanazawa, where guests will have the opportunity to learn about local culture at a Geisha teahouse, as well as a Samurai experience. The voyage also includes a visit to Niigata, the sake capital of Japan. Silver Muse will arrive in Akita on March 23—perfectly timed to see sakura, or cherry blossoms, along ancient Samurai residences.

Another highlight will include the ancient archaeological sites of Aomari at the Sannai-Maruyama ruins. Next, guests will explore Hokkaido, followed by a relaxing day at sea. The trip will culminate  in dazzling Tokyo and then finally back to Osaka after 14 days of sailing.

Earlier this year, Silversea also became the first cruise liner to sail into Hong Kong once restrictions were eased.
