Singapore Airlines (SIA) is delighted to be recognised with five gold awards at Business Traveller’s Cellars in the Sky Awards 2022.

SIA collected the gold awards for Best Overall Cellar, Best Business Class Red, Best Business Class Cellar, Best Presented Business Class Wine List, and Best Presented First Class Wine List, along with six silver and bronze awards.

Now in its 37th year, Cellars in the Sky has been running since 1985, and celebrates the best business and first-class wines served by airlines on their flights. This year’s judges were John Worontschak, Helen McGinn, Masters of Wine Peter McCombie and Sarah Abbott, and head judge Charles Metcalfe, founder of the International Wine Challenge.

Singapore Airlines Wine Expert, Michael Hill Smith MW is responsible for SIA’s wine selection, alongside Jeannie Cho Lee MW and Oz Clarke. Speaking after the award win, Hill Smith said: “The wine team is really excited with this year’s Business Traveller Cellar in the Sky results.

“Winning Best Overall Cellar, Best Business Class Red, Best Business Class Cellar, Best Presented Business Class Wine List, and Best Presented First Class Wine List, along with six silver and bronze awards is no mean feat.”

I was particularly pleased to see 2008 Tattinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs and Piper-Heidsieck Champagne do well, plus Australian favourites; the 2019 Clonakilla O’Riada Shiraz, the 2019 Teusner The Riebke Shiraz, and Morris Classic Liqueur Muscat.”
