Rob Unson joins Sofitel Brisbane Central as general manager with a career spanning over 30 years across luxury and premium hotel brands on four continents.
Unson’s hospitality journey began at The Ritz-Carlton in New York. Over the following three decades, he built a distinguished senior leadership career across the US, Australia, the UK and Southeast Asia.
His latest role marks his return to the Sofitel brand, having worked with the brand in Vietnam and Australia. Most recently, he worked as general manager of Amora Brisbane and has held managerial roles with TFE hotels across the nation.
Unson said he was honoured to rejoin the Sofitel team.
“Sofitel represents the very best of French elegance combined with local culture, and I look forward to working with this talented team to craft extraordinary experiences for every guest who walks through our doors. Brisbane is a city on the rise, and Sofitel Brisbane Central has an incredible opportunity to lead the way in luxury hospitality here,” he said.
VP Operations, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems for the Pacific, David Fraser, said that the group was delighted to welcome Unson back to the Sofitel family.
“His depth of experience, his passion for both guests and colleagues, and his proven ability to inspire teams to deliver at the highest level make him the ideal leader for Sofitel Brisbane Central.
“We look forward to seeing his vision and expertise further strengthen our position as Brisbane’s premier luxury destination,” Fraser said.
In his new role, Unson will oversee all aspects of hotel operations at Sofitel Brisbane Central, nurturing the talent of the hotel’s dedicated team, while further amplifying the Sofitel brand promise through innovation and genuine engagement.
