The iconic Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi hotel in Vietnam will mark the property’s 125th anniversary this year with a new mooncake collection ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The hotel designed the collection, themed “Metropole – A Tale of the Living Legend,” as a tribute to its heritage since it first opened in 1901. The hotel’s culinary team made the mooncakes without preservatives and come in both baked and snowskin styles, with flavours including traditional mix, mung bean with apricot and salted egg, lotus seed and macadamia, black sesame and sunflower seed (baked only), orange zest and Grand Marnier, and ube with cordyceps.
To mark the anniversary, the hotel has partnered with Bát Tràng Museum Atelier to create a set of hand-glazed Heritage Plates included with select mooncake boxes. Each plate is randomly selected from six available colourways, making every gift unique.
The Metropole Mooncake Collection is available as a six-piece box (100g per piece) or a four-piece box (150g per piece), each paired with a Heritage Plate and priced at VND3,500,000 (AU$190). A more premium option, the limited-edition Metropole Lacquer Box, includes six mooncakes, Emperor Lotus and Jasmine Tea, and a pair of Heritage Plates, priced at VND10,990,000.
The hotel is offering tiered discounts and bonus boxes depending on when guests purchase. Orders placed by 23 August can receive a complimentary two-piece box for every five boxes bought, or discounts of up to 20 per cent for orders of 30 boxes or more. A second tier of offers applies to purchases made by 13 September, with smaller but still notable savings.
The Hanoi property comprises 358 rooms across its Heritage Wing and Opera Wing, along with six restaurants and bars including Le Beaulieu, Spice Garden and the Bamboo Bar.
