Sri Lanka Tourism has launched a nationwide recovery campaign to reaffirm confidence in the destination following Cyclone Ditwah, delivering a clear message to the global travel trade: Sri Lanka is safe, open and ready to welcome visitors.
The campaign is being driven across social media by hotels and operators sharing real-time updates, guest experiences and destination highlights. Particular focus is being placed on Down South and other unaffected regions, which continue to operate as vibrant, safe destinations for immediate travel.
“The response from our industry has been remarkable,” a Sri Lanka Tourism spokesperson said. “Hotels, DMCs and operators are working together to show the world that Sri Lanka’s tourism sector is resilient and very much open for business.
“The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has confirmed that tourism facilities, services and major visitor attractions across the island remain fully operational. “The recent state of emergency is purely an administrative measure to support disaster response,” the SLTDA said. “It is not security-related, and there are absolutely no restrictions on visitor movement anywhere in the country.”

Joint assessments with regional authorities confirm that key tourism zones, beaches, wildlife parks, heritage sites and transport networks are open, with airports, highways and communications functioning smoothly. Alternate routes have been activated where required to ensure seamless connectivity.
“Visitors currently in Sri Lanka are continuing their itineraries as planned, and new arrivals can expect uninterrupted travel experiences,” the SLTDA added.
Sri Lanka Tourism has also called on media and trade partners to help counter misinformation. “By sharing accurate stories of recovery and reopening, you play a vital role in restoring confidence,” the authority said.
