Intrepid Travel has launched Stay Intrepid, independently bookable stays across its experiential accommodation portfolio of five key properties across Australia and the world and will include its Morocco property.
While launched during ATE26, which has a focus on inbound Australia tourism, managing director ANZ Brett Mitchell told Travel Weekly that Intrepid Stay would wrap in its traditional Moroccan guesthouse in Marrakech.
Each of the properties, carefully curated by the world’s largest adventure company, offers deep community roots and a kind of local experience that has defined Intrepid’s way of travel.
This comes on the back of Intrepid Travel fully acquiring French adventure travel company Altaï Group (Atalante, Altaï Travel, Copines de Voyage and Les Aventureurs) from the investment company of Julien Leclercq, a key shareholder of Intrepid and also chairman of global sporting goods retailer Decathlon. It was Intepid’s biggest acquisition to date, with the $100 million revenue business set to add up to 35,000 new customers and cement France as the Melbourne-based operator’s fourth largest market, behind Australia, the UK and the US.
The latest move in Intrepid’s new accommodation strategy aims to create a portfolio of ‘boutique’ (small inventory) accommodation experiences that have community and impact at their core. These properties, which can be booked independent of Intrepid tours, will be responsibly operated, and designed to give customers a true Intrepid experience while giving back to the community.
The five new properties in Australia include:
- Daintree Ecolodge on Eastern Kuku Yalanji Country in Queensland’s ancient Daintree Rainforest
- Edge of the Bay on Palawa Country along Tasmania’s Freycinet coastline
- Arkaba Homestead on Adnyamathanha Country in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges
- Bamarru Plains Limilngan and neighbouring Aboriginal Lands, Northern Territory
- Ooraminna Homestead on Arrernte Country outside Alice Springs

Each property is deeply rooted in its local community and held together by a shared set of Intrepid values and experience standards.
Intrepid plans to grow the portfolio with multiple acquisitions each year, with Stay Intrepid marking a significant new chapter for the business.
Mitchell said that Intrepid Stay was a significant moment for the brand.
“We are proud to announce and showcase Stay Intrepid to thousands of visitors at ATE26 today,” he said. “This marks an important evolution for Intrepid as a lifestyle travel brand.”
Australian Tourism Exchange 2026 gets off to a flying start in Adelaide
Bookable, no tour required
The properties are bookable independently, with no tour required, and designed for those who want more from a stay than just a place to rest their heads.
Each operates under a ‘collection brand’ model, with its own distinct identity and story, held together by a shared set of Intrepid values and experience standards. Every property in the Stay Intrepid portfolio was handpicked for the story it already tells.
“There’s a moment on every great trip where a place stops you in your tracks – where you stop being a visitor and start feeling like you actually belong somewhere. That’s what these properties do, and it’s what drew us to them,” Intrepid Travel general manager of Accommodation, Australia Richmond Sear said.
“When we acquired Wild Bush Luxury at the end of last year, places like Arkaba and Bamurru were already doing something most accommodation can only aspire to. We didn’t need to change them, we just needed to make sure more people could find them.”
Intrepid push into boutique accommodation with 20 global venues in next three years
Across all properties, the Intrepid imprint is felt in the details. Guests are welcomed with locally inspired arrival rituals rooted in community tradition. A dedicated Community Connector serves as a personalised concierge, helping guests plan and book local experiences and connecting them with the people, places and stories that make each destination extraordinary.
Restaurant menus celebrate hyper-local and native ingredients, with curated works from local makers peppered throughout each space.

At Daintree Ecolodge, guests can experience the world’s oldest rainforest through the eyes of those who know it best – with on-site First Nations guided experiences, including cultural walks and basket weaving, offered through an affiliated First Nations operator.
At Bamarru Plains, mesh-walled bungalows dissolve the boundary between room and wilderness, with the sounds of the Mary River floodplains beside Kakadu as a constant companion.

Further south, at Arkaba Homestead, just 10 guests at a time are hosted within the vast Arkaba Conservancy, with immersive conservation experiences replacing the standard outback tour. At Ooraminna Homestead, rustic elevated accommodation is nestled amongst the red earth, complete with campfire dining and star-filled skies. And Edge of the Bay offers something increasingly rare: a stay that feels completely of its place.
Each Stay Intrepid property is connected to a locally rooted cause through The Intrepid Foundation, with donations supported through a range of activations and initiatives ensuring measurable community and environmental impact.
With plans to acquire multiple properties each year as it builds its global portfolio, Intrepid is positioning Stay Intrepid as a significant new chapter for the business and a new benchmark for what responsible and experience-led accommodation can look like.
Stay Intrepid properties are independently bookable, with no Intrepid tour required.

Morrocco riad
In Marrakech, Intrepid’s traditional Moroccan riad or guesthouse covers 47sq0m and is just five minutes’ walk from the famous medina. The property was acquired in 2025 from a private owner and Intrepid. Guests will be able to enjoy culinary experiences in the medina and onsite, with chefs being recruited via Intrepid’s foundation partner, the Amal Association, which provides culinary skills training to women in Morocco.
Intrepid is also expected to announce the purchase of other international properties to add to its suite of global stays.
