New research has suggested which countries will have the most (and the least) travelling fans at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which starts today in the UK.
Travelport’s analysis found that as of Tuesday 21 May 2019, flight bookings made through all global distribution systems (GDS) to the UK for the period of the tournament, plus two days either side (Tuesday 28 May 2019 to Tuesday 16 July 2019), had increased by 47,939 or three per cent compared to the same period the previous year.
Out of the countries that are participating in the Cricket World Cup 2019, the greatest growth in flight bookings to the UK had come from India (up 17,505 or 29.8 per cent), while South Africa (up 2654 or 13.5 per cent), Bangladesh (up 1565 or 80 per cent) and Pakistan (up 1449 or 14.7 per cent) had also seen a significant uplift.
Australia, on the other hand, will likely have the least amount of travelling fans at this year’s Cricket World Cup if flight bookings are anything to go by (down 2570 or 2.7 per cent).
