The votes have been counted and the award for Australia’s top luxury hotel goes to a property where mountains meet the sea on Tasmania’s east coast.
Online travel website TripAdvisor on Thursday announced that Saffire Freycinet has received the national gong based on feedback from travellers who consider service, quality and value among their criteria.
The 20-suite, architect-designed hotel boasts views across Great Oyster Bay and the Hazards Mountains from its position on the fringe of the Freycinet National Park, famed for the iconic Wineglass Bay.
TripAdvisor’s awards showcase more than 8,000 properties around the world in a range of categories, based on the reviews of millions of guests.
Saffire was named in the top-10 of seven categories across Australia and the South Pacific region.
Thursday’s announcement follows Saffire’s naming in 2014 as Best Overall Boutique Hotel in the World at the World Boutique Hotel Awards.
