The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) successfully held a special product update for the travel industry in Sydney last week, and we’ve got the photos to prove it!

Hosted by Travel Weekly editor Huntley Mitchell at Dolton House – Hyde Park, the in-person and virtual event gave the industry the chance to not only learn more about Thailand as a destination, but also come together and reconnect.

Thailand’s Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Busadee Santipitaks, kicked off proceedings with an update on the country’s COVID-19 situation before TAT’s director for Oceania, Suladda Sarutilavan, outlined the Kingdom’s ‘Roadmap to Recovery’.

Phuket will be the pilot destination to open up to fully vaccinated travellers starting 1 July 2021.

TAT marketing manager Sherly Handjojo discussed the success of Thailand’s Safety and Health Administration (SHA) program, as well as many exciting infrastructure developments across the Land of Smiles.

Amy Shaw, account executive for agency sales at Singapore Airlines, provided an update on the airline’s COVID-safe protocols.

Event attendees were then treated to some delicious Thai cuisine and a cooking demonstration by Palisa Anderson, a second-generation restaurateur of Chat Thai and a first-generation farmer of Boon Luck Farm in Northern NSW.

Attendees also heard from more than 20 Thai suppliers, airlines, accommodation providers and attractions, before being quizzed on what they had learnt throughout the half-day event, with some walking away with fabulous prizes!

Thailand’s Consul General, Chakkrid Krachaiwong, wrapped up formal proceedings with a few closing remarks, before attendees continued to enjoy networking over a few drinks and nibbles.
