Thailand targets Oceania

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has announced it will fine-tune its Believe in Thailand campaign to showcase the country’s diversity as a MICE destination.

The TCEB last year launched an aggressive marketing offensive in a bid to draw more MICE business to the region.

But after experiencing a significant dip in bookings following the Thailand floods and economic crisis, the TCEB has renewed efforts to draw business travellers with the ‘Thailand: Destinations of CHOICES’ campaign.

Designed to target specific MICE destinations, Phuket has been singled out as the flagship destination following continued success in the MICE market.

Leading the campaign under the ‘Phuket: 7 MICE Wonders of the Andaman’ slogan, the initiative showcases the city’s strengths in a bid to draw short-haul clients from the Oceania region.

With MICE business from the Oceania market set to increase 6% on last year, TCEB President Akapol Sorasuchart remained confident the new initiative would position Thailand as a hub for the MICE sector.

"For the past year, Thailand’s MICE industry has been impacted by both internal and external factors," he said. "We aim to promote Thailand as a superior convention and incentive travel destination offering variety of destination choices which can be tailored to suit the needs of each market."
