In the wake of countries around the world easing travel restrictions, Thailand will drop pretravel testing requirements for international arrivals and Cambodia has removed all COVID testing requirements.

Thailand’s news comes from it’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration which announced that travellers will no longer have to show proof of a negative PCR test within 72 hours of travel.

This change will come into effect from 1 April and applies to any arrivals under Thailand’s TEST & GO, Sandbox, and Alternative Quarantine schemes.

Cambodia also reinstated its Visa on Arrival programme, making it easier for vaccinated travellers to enter.

“This is an incredible move from Cambodia which has led the way in Southeast Asia with regards to post-COVID travel,” said Inside Travel Group spokesperson, Harry Sargant.

“Cambodia is hugely reliant on tourism and has suffered heavily over the pandemic. It is obviously very keen to do what it can to bring visitors back and we hope that other countries in the region will begin to follow suit.”

The announcement means there is no longer any need for vaccinated visitors to show a pre-arrival PCR test or take any sort of test during their stay in Cambodia removing any extra costs or confusion over travel.

“InsideAsia has always encouraged travel beyond Siem Reap to discover the culture, ancient rural towns, wildlife, jungle and islands that make up this beautiful Kingdom. There is so much to this country and this further easing of rules will allow us to help more people get beneath the surface of Cambodia.”

These travel updates follow suit with a series of other Asian countries that are re-opening to the world.

South Korea will open its borders from 1 April, Abu Dhabi has eased testing requirements, and Thailand, the Philippines, Bali, and Vietnam have all recently opened their borders.
