The new event director of AIME takes some time out of planning the 2016 extravaganza to talk birds, Borneo and the brighter side of life.
The great thing about my job is… Every day is different! I also enjoy working with an extremely passionate group of individuals who strive to deliver the very best results for our stakeholders every day.
The challenge for industry is… Staying relevant, creating engaging content and keeping up to date with the latest trends.
My greatest achievement is… Directing events across 23 countries and embracing the diverse cultures around the world.
The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… AIME 2016 of course! As the largest international event of its kind in Australia it’s the only show as a visitor you can access over 700 exhibitors representing 37 plus countries – all under one roof.
I try to relax by… Hiking, exploring the beautiful coastlines of Australia and spending quality time with family and friends.
I don’t understand why… There is so much unrest in the world.
My favourite venue is… Café del Mar in Cartagena, Colombia. I organised an event there in 2013 and the setting was absolutely magical.
I’ve always wanted to travel to… Borneo to experience the wildlife and wilderness.
I am scared to death of… At the moment swooping spring time birds when I’m on my morning run.
I can’t live without… My family and friends. They keep me grounded and share the brighter side of life.
I really wish I had… More time to travel and explore the world.
If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Graeme Norton, Adam Hills, Oprah and Ellen Degeneres – I like a lot of laughter around the table at dinner time. And interesting conversations of course.
For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be… Be creative and have the energy to be up for the challenge!
