Bannisters Hotels General Manager, Josh Stuart chats about Italy, doing a Gap Year and having a great leader.

The great thing about my job is… our people, our product and our location!

The challenge for industry is… providing up to date product in line with guest’s expectations

My greatest achievement is… yet to come

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… last year it was all about boardroom conferencing in the city, so this year has to be experiential/destination meetings

I try to relax by… good f&b with family and time with our pets. Surf ski has been ordered too

I don’t understand why… people don’t listen

My favourite venue is… any authentic road side trattoria in Florence with my wife

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Amalfi.

I am scared to death of… not succeeding when i put my mind to something

I can’t live without… my wife and a comfortable pillow

I really wish I had… done a gap year

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Madame Clicquot Ponsardin (for marketing advice), Anthony Bordain, any of the Stuart Kings for political learning, Michael Jordan (the greatest!) And my wife

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be… align yourself with a good leader who develops and challenges you. Ask for constant feedback and benchmark yourself against the best.
