The great thing about my job is… working with the wonderful people in this industry – they are so professional and happy in their work, despite the challenging hours and demanding clients.
The challenge for industry is… not to be complacent – we have to be constantly on the lookout for great ideas and better ways of doing things.
My greatest achievement is… selling Convention Wise to MCI – I’d like to think it came about because of the opportunities I had to create a profile in Meetings Events Australia, and despite being a small company, being respected for what we have been able to do within the industry over the last 10 years.
The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… dealing with the uncertainty of global financial situations
Right now, the industry is really good at… building convention centres!
I try to relax by… riding my road bike, sitting on my deck, reading and eating out.
I don’t understand why… more people don’t run conferences in Tasmania – it’s a brilliant destination.

My favourite venue is… Sheraton Mirage Resort Gold Coast – but I would like to run a corporate event at Saffire in Tasmania!
I am scared to death of… getting too old to do all the things on my bucket list. I still haven’t been to Antarctica!
I can’t live without… Tassie wines and the local seafood.
Blackberry or iPhone… Blackberry, but I don’t go anywhere without my iPad!
I really wish I had… started in this industry 20 years before I did! I used to be a school teacher.
If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Sir Douglas Mawson, Steve Jobs, Bill Bryson & Heston Blumenthal – as long as he cooked.
