The best thing about my job is … I get to do what I love to do. I have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of creative and skilled people. It is rewarding to see the end results of all the hard work and effort that is put into producing great events.
The challenges in the industry are …identifying new revenue streams while making savings through operational efficiencies. Also, attracting and retaining passionate and professional people in the industry.
My greatest achievement is … besides my family, using my skills and experience to work around the world in some amazing venues. I am passionate about delivering world-class customer service to our clients and delegates.
The biggest thing in MICE this year… from the Darwin Convention Centre’s perspective, it is showcasing how close we are to Asia and our world-class facilities. We will be focussing on attracting national conferences that are keen to grow their Asian delegate numbers. Darwin is only 2.5 hours from Indonesia and just over 4 hours from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, so it is an ideal mid-way destination with gorgeous tropical climate year-round.
I try to relax by…having a glass of wine, enjoying the company of my friends and family.
I don’t understand why…. it is easier for some people to be negative rather than positive.
Favourite venue… of course, it is my new venue!! The Darwin Convention Centre is located on the beautiful Darwin Harbour and it is a wonderful modern Convention Centre with outstanding facilities.
