The great thing about my job is… The people, clients, stakeholders, influencers, the team. What other role allows you to engage with entrepreneurs, business leaders, team leaders, key influencers. Just yesterday I spoke with a CEO of a leading PCO, a business leader, and a CEO of a major medical association.
The challenge for industry is… understanding and delivering value in a more discerning economic environment.
My greatest achievement is… winning gold and silver awards for incentives to Tobago and Nordkapp at the C&IT Awards in London. I worked with World Event Management (now Universal) with a great mentor, Graham Keene who taught me a lot about delivering incredible customer experiences.
The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… an announcement of an international convention centre for Auckland New Zealand. This will be a game changer for the New Zealand MICE market.
Right now, the industry is really good at… achieving outcomes and delivering experiences for clients. Australian PCO are among the best in the world.
I try to relax by… surfing, running, and mountain biking in stunning locations.
I don’t understand why… when we celebrated the Year 2000 we didn’t make all future weekends 3 days instead of 2!

My favourite venue is… the about to be transformed Rendezvous Grand Hotel Perth, stunning beach location and great conference facilities. If overseas I would chose the Black Diamond, the Royal Public Library in Copenhagen, incredible architecture in what is probably one of the best cities in the world. I had the pleasure to work with Copenhagen Convention Bureau while in London.
I am scared to death of… sharks and horror movies.
I can’t live without… adventure, it keeps me motivated to explore life, people, places.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… President Obama, Billy Connolly, my wife Michele, my son in 15 years time. We would have a great conversation with a lot of laughs!
