We chat to the Director (aka Fun Mistress) of Events Fiji (formally Hens Party Fiji).

The great thing about my job is… is the satisfaction I receive when clients walk away having the time of their lives with us and all our Fiji Activities.  We supply photos of the event to client as part of the packages. It’s always brings a smile when I go through the photos and see the clients enjoying their day so much and that I helped create that.

The challenge for industry is… convincing Fiji has so many amazing places to visit and adventures and activities it offers.

My greatest achievement is… bringing on a new concept (Hens and Bucks Party Fiji into Fiji).

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be…  minimising or removal of technologiy and promoting and fostering face to face communications through meeting and incentiviation plans and networking.

I try to relax by… going downstairs and practising some pole dancing. Watching 4 episodes of Game of Thrones at once.

I don’t understand why… Fiji is taking such a long while to come in the way of government processes. There are so many obstacles one has to overcome starting a business in Fiji. It’s almost as if they are limiting/hindering you from succeding. Everything just takes 3 times longer to get done here and very archiac.

My favourite venue is… right now would be Intercontinental hotel for conferences, it’s has amazing views, the white sandy beach, golf club overlooking the ocean, great views. I like the fact it is on the mainland so you are still close to all the activities Fiji has to offer which is not water based sports.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… South America – to experience the culture, food and the dancing and elaborate colourful costumes… and Galapogas to see the wonderful wildlife.

I am scared to death of… deep dark blue ocean, I would probably never do scuba diving. But I think I ‘m going to try and conquer it this year and go snorkeling with manta rays. It’s the fear of what’s underneath.

I can’t live without… my husband – we pretty much do everything together.

I really wish I had… private jet so I could escape to anywhere in the world with my loved ones.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… my best friend, husband, my sister and my niece (she’s been the monopoly champion since the age of 5!)

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be …. Network with everyone, Fiji is a place where it’s who you know and what you know. And research as much as possible on the processes involved in starting up something new.
