The Green Leaf Niseko Village, Tapestry Collection by Hilton has opened in Hokkaido, marking the debut of the lifestyle brand in Japan.

Located at the foot of Mount Niseko Annupuri within Niseko Village Ski Resort, the winter-season property will welcome guests exclusively during Niseko’s celebrated White Season, offering prime access to some of the world’s best skiing experiences.

The 200-bedroom property joins more than 180 Tapestry Collection by Hilton properties worldwide, each defined by its vibrant personality, elevated design and authentic, locally-inspired experiences. Alongside Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda – which offers a thoughtfully curated boutique stay – two upcoming Canopy by Hilton hotels in Okinawa and Tokyo, and a second Curio Collection by Hilton slated to open in Kyoto by 2028, The Green Leaf Niseko Village is well placed amongst Hilton’s lifestyle brand growth in Japan.

“Japan’s rich culture and stunning natural landscapes make it a compelling destination for the market debut of Tapestry Collection by Hilton,” Hilton area vice president, head of Japan, Korea & Microneasia Joseph Khairallah said. “The Green Leaf Niseko Village reflects the spirit of the brand through its thoughtful design, local art, and authentic sense of place, while its winter-focused operation celebrates the unique rhythm of Niseko.”

A winter sanctuary

The Green Leaf Niseko Village is designed as a sanctuary where nature, culture and craftsmanship meet in quiet harmony. With its lodge-style experience and direct access to Niseko Village Ski Resort’s renowned powder terrain, guests are perfectly positioned to explore the mountain’s world-class slopes. Indoors, the hotel’s calming spaces draw inspiration from Niseko’s serene winter landscapes, offering a warm, restorative retreat after a day in the snow.

Inspired by the locale, the hotel features collaborations with local artists, each bringing a distinctive perspective and interpretation to the region’s natural beauty. A key highlight is the display of 200 works byprominent painter Soichiro Tomioka in the guestrooms and guest corridors. Celebrated for his ethereal winter landscapes and his mastery of a self-developed pigment known as “Tomioka White”, his creations capture the quiet purity and depth of Japanese winter light, creating a contemplative experience.

Sapporo-based artist and graphic designer Emi Shiratori adds a modern, expressive layer to the hotel’s aesthetic through murals at the lobby entrance and spa façade, along with hand-drawn graphics on guestroom doors and ski lockers. Her contemporary interpretations of Niseko’s wildlife appear across multiple guest touchpoints, from wall art and dining menus to personalized cards from the general manager, and even unique animal motifs on room keys, turning everyday items into curated pieces of art. During an earlier on-site residency, guests were also able to witness her artistic process firsthand as she created many of these works, turning her creativity into an immersive part of the hotel experience.

The Green Leaf Niseko Village’s renewed interiors were envisioned by Champalimaud Design, the acclaimed New York studio known for narrative-driven spaces. Drawing inspiration from Niseko’s mountain landscapes, the design is calm, grounded and attuned to seasonal shifts. Through thoughtful use of natural materials, sculptural forms and warm textures, the property reflects a harmonious composition where craftsmanship, comfort, and nature exist in quiet dialogue.

Green Leaf offers 200 rooms and suites with direct ski-in, ski-out access to Niseko Village Ski Resort.

Thoughtfully designed stays

The property’s 200 rooms and suites offer vibrant, design-forward spaces framed by natural textures and artistic details. Guests enjoy direct ski-in, ski-out access to Niseko Village Ski Resort, a tranquil indoor-outdoor onsen surrounded by natural stone, spiritedly local culinary experiences highlighting Hokkaido’s seasonal produce, and immersive connections to art and culture, each reflecting the true spirit of the mountain.

“The launch of Tapestry Collection by Hilton in this region marks an exciting moment for our lifestyle portfolio,” Hilton senior director lifestyle brands Asia Pacific Andrew Ling said. “With The Green Leaf Niseko Village, we set out to create a stay experience rooted in the character of the destination, where nature, art and local heritage are thoughtfully woven into every touchpoint. The hotel embodies this vision, offering an authentic and memorable experience that feels genuinely connected to its surroundings and reflects the individuality that defines each property within the Tapestry Collection portfolio.”

Culinary and wellness experiences

Complementing the comfort of the rooms, the property offers a range of amenities and dining experiences designed to elevate every stay. Goshiki, the hotel’s signature restaurant, embraces the diversity of Japanese and Western flavors with a la carte lunches and an international buffet dinner featuring live stations that celebrate variety, culture, and connection.

At the heart of the lobby, Tomioka White provides a warm and welcoming social space that is perfect for coffee, apres-ski gatherings, light bites, or cocktails by the signature fireplace. The lively lobby lounge also offers a convenient takeout breakfast option for guests eager to hit the ski slopes. Guests further enjoy easy access to the culinary offerings at Hilton Niseko Village and Niseko-Yo, expanding dining possibilities within the wider village.

For relaxation and rejuvenation, The Green Leaf Onsen is one of Niseko’s most beautiful natural rock pool onsens. Its mineral-rich water comes from a 100 per cent natural spring emerging at 53.2°C, cooling to just over 40°C before flowing into the baths at 270 liters per minute. Separate indoor and outdoor baths for men and women, along with a Rotenburo (open-air bath) surrounded by large boulders and snow-covered pines, offer a quintessential Japanese onsen experience. Guests seeking the ultimate experience are invited to experience the outdoor bath at dusk, as softly falling snow and twilight over the alpine landscape capture the essence of Niseko’s winter magic.

The hotel’s wellness sanctuary, Juhyo Spa, named after the region’s iconic ‘snow-covered trees’, offers a cozy and restorative escape. Blending Japanese aesthetics and hospitality with European sports-science expertise, the spa provides tailored treatments that soothe, restore, and prepare guests for active days on the mountain. A fully equipped fitness center provides guests alternative workout options throughout their stay.
