The Islands of Tahiti offers plenty of reasons for travellers to visit, and now in 2026, they have announced new hotels, tourist experiences, and other offerings to experience the beauty of the islands.

Air Tahiti direct flights

The national carrier for The Islands of Tahiti is launching a new direct flight between Sydney and the capital of Tahiti, Papeete, starting from 14 December. Air Tahiti Nui operates two flights per week, offering travellers a direct, non-stop connection between Tahiti and Australia. This service significantly reduces travel time and simplify journeys between the two destinations. Tickets are available to book now.

Tahiti Lagoon Resort opens

The Island of Tahiti has welcomed a new overwater bungalow resort, as the refurbishment of the former Le Meridien property has been completed and the new Tahiti Lagoon Resort has opened its doors this March. Having undergone modernisation during its extensive refurbishment, the hotel boasts iconic overwater bungalows, newly designed rooms, a swimming pool, and a brand-new beachfront restaurant.

Located on the west coast of Tahiti at Pointe des Pecheurs, facing the turquoise lagoon and overlooking sister island Moorea, the refurbished hotel is the perfect place to relax and connect with nature. Guests can soak in breathtaking views while also experiencing a range of activities, including padel, tennis, yoga, kayaking and snorkelling. Whether travellers are seeking relaxation or adventure, there is something for everyone at the Tahiti Lagoon Resort.

Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort’s new management

Le Tahiti by Pearl Resorts is now managed by South Pacific Management (SPM), under the new name “Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort”, taking effect from 1 April 2026. The resort will be added to SPM’s growing portfolio of hotels, private islands, and luxury villas across The Islands of Tahiti.

Overlooking the stunning Lafayette Beach and the legendary Matavai Bay, guests can marvel at the beauty of the islands. With easy access to Tahiti’s East Coast, the James Norman Hall Home, the Papenoo Valley and the Tahara viewpoint, there are plenty of sightseeing opportunities for guests to explore. It’s convenient location also allows access to downtown Papeete, its markets and boutiques, as well as the West Coast and the recently renovated Tahiti Museum.

Experience Mokai Tours Tahiti

For travellers seeking adventure, this new tourist experience offers a different way to explore the turquoise waters of the South Pacific Ocean. With a capacity of 150 people, the excursion offers an unforgettable experience of sailing, swimming and taking in the beautiful landscapes of Tetiaroa, Moorea, and the Tahiti lagoon.

A taste of Italy

Tucked away in the corner of the garden of the Taianapa Concept House Moorea in Tiahura, delicious Italian street food is now served at the Casetta Di Moorea. Sister venue of the popular Casa Vicenzo, guests can enjoy traditional focaccia dishes, prepared daily on-site, while taking in the serene, peaceful views of Moorea.

New Moorea Tiki Lodge

Located just three minutes from the Coco Beach pier, the Moorea Tiki Lodge is the perfect boutique lodge to kickstart exploring Moorea. Just a few steps away from beautiful beaches, shops and restaurants, guests can easily enjoy the best of Moorea while soaking up the peace and tranquillity of the island. The resort offers three independent bungalows with key amenities and a fully equipped kitchen to make visitors’ stay as practical and comfortable as possible.

New initiatives

The Islands of Tahiti is reaffirming its commitment to sustainable tourism as it places marine conservation at the heart of its development strategy.

With nearly 5 million sqkm of ocean through Tainui Atea placed under protection and now recognised as the largest Marine Protected Area in the world, the initiative marks a milestone in preserving the unique natural heritage of the islands. Established in 2018 and reinforced in 2025, this vast Marine Protected Area covers the entire Polynesian Exclusive Economic Zone and reflects the destination’s long-term vision for preservation and responsible travel.

Visitors to The Islands of Tahiti can experience the benefits of the initiative firsthand, from the preserved lagoons and protected biodiversity to vibrant cultural experiences, all supported by a strong focus on sustainability.

Bloody Mary’s prepares to open

Located in beautiful Bora Bora, Bloody Mary’s is preparing to open its highly anticipated new hotel after a period of renovations. With reservations expected to open from May 1st, 2026, the new hotel features 53 rooms, including overwater bungalows with breathtaking views of Mount Otemanu and the surrounding landscape.

Guests can enjoy modern amenities with access to several restaurants, including the iconic Bloody Mary’s Restaurant, alongside a French Bistro, Tiki Tide Bar and Matira Beach Restaurant.
