The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is returning to Carlton Gardens and the Royal Exhibition Building from 26 to 30 March 2025.
This year’s show offers a captivating blend of creativity, culture, and craftsmanship, from an elaborate, deconstructed Rubik’s Cube to immersive floral art installations. Visitors can wander through a stunning garden designed in collaboration with Wurundjeri Elders, marvel at bioluminescent blooms in the interactive Bloom Room, or get their hands dirty in workshops covering everything from edible gardening to floral design.
From designs honouring cultural traditions to landscapes raising awareness for important social causes, the gardens tell powerful stories that connect people with nature, history, and each other. Floating floral installations suspended throughout the gardens add to the wonder, showcasing the artistry and versatility of flowers in breathtaking new ways, and the Show Gardens designed by award-winning landscapers offers innovative backyard solutions and plants to inspiring visitors.

The event is set to be a bold, colourful, and thought-provoking installation designed by the visionary team at Bayley LuuTomes Design and Bespoke Landscapes. Featuring a striking giant Rubik’s Cube-inspired structure, the garden celebrates playfulness, creativity, and the many layers of inspiration that come to life.
As part of the collection of Show Gardens, the 2025 Indigenous Garden invites visitors to connect with Country through the story of the iuk (eel), a significant part of Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung culture. This installation offers a space for reflection and deeper understanding, honouring the rich history, traditions, and ongoing care and custodianship of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people.
A stunning immersive installation takes centre stage under the dome of the Royal Exhibition Building featuring hand-painted florals by Sara Sidari, blending illustration with fresh flowers. Monet-inspired reflections with mirrored surfaces, an evolving floral wall crafted by visitor contributions, and glowing bioluminescent blooms will offer a captivating experience. Named the ‘Bloom Room’ the installation seamlessly blends art, nature, and audience interaction, inviting visitors to explore the multifaceted beauty of floristry through innovative design and collaborative artistry.

The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is more than just a visual feast, it’s an interactive experience where visitors can roll up their sleeves, learn new skills, and take-home practical knowledge through a range of hands-on workshops and demonstrations. Visitors can also expect expert-led sessions on sustainable gardening, composting, native plant care, floral design, and backyard makeovers. Also on offer are brush and bubbles sessions that invite attendees to explore their artistic side through painting while enjoying a glass of their favourite bubbly.
Gardening is something the whole family can enjoy, and the Show has plenty of family-friendly activities designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and a love for nature in kids and parents alike. The Grow Together Garden, created by Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria, is the perfect place for kids and parents to learn how to grow their own food straight from plants. Local schools will also enter this year’s superhero scarecrow competition. Demonstrations and interactive displays show families how easy it is to start their own edible garden at home – whether that’s a veggie patch, a few pots of herbs, or even fruit trees in small spaces.

“This year’s Show is bigger, bolder, and more exciting than ever, with brand-new experiences waiting around every corner,” Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show director, Trent Cornish, said.
“Gardens by Twilight is now on both Thursday and Saturday nights, giving visitors twice the chance to soak up the magic of the Show after dark. The all-new Garden Grill, presented by Challenger, offers a gourmet dining experience nestled within the gardens.
“The Melbourne Gin Co Garden brings a fresh twist – literally – where guests can pick their own plant garnishes for botanical-inspired cocktails. Whether guests visit for the world-class Show Gardens, hands-on workshops, family-friendly fun, or an unforgettable food and drink experience, there’s something exciting and unmissable at every turn.”

This year, the Show is excited to introduce new and elevated food experiences, from indulgent dining to relaxed garden settings, alongside a fantastic lineup of food trucks, live music, and pop-up bars. Nestled among the gardens, The Garden Grill presented by Challenger is a brand-new experience where visitors can enjoy a gourmet barbecue-style meal in a stunning outdoor setting. For a touch of elegance, visitors can book a seat at the High Tea Experience presented by Botanica World Discoveries. Guests planning to visit should book these exciting extras early to avoid disappointment!
As night falls and hours extend until 9pm on both Thursday and Saturday, the gardens transform into an illuminated wonderland with live music, local street food, botanical cocktails, glowing installations, fire performances, and after-dark guided garden tours.
