As Australia steps into spring with temperatures set to rise above average, new research has revealed the states with the most must-see hidden gem attractions with the great outdoors proving a winner!
The study, conducted by travel and luggage experts at Bounce, used Tripadvisor and search data to uncover Australia’s most treasured destinations.
The Northern Territory leads the pack, with 8.47% of its 838 attractions classified as hidden gems. Known for its stunning Outback landscapes, including the famous Uluru and Kata Tjuta rock formations, the Northern Territory offers visitors a range of lesser-known spots, from Aboriginal art galleries to the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens in Alice Springs.
Tasmania follows closely behind with 4.82% hidden gems, making it a standout destination for those seeking natural beauty, including the painted cliffs of Maria Island and the pristine Cradle Mountain region.
South Australia comes in third at 4.77%, featuring dramatic landscapes like The Flinders Ranges and Limestone Coast. Adelaide is also the Australian city with the most hidden gems, boasting 7.99% of its attractions as off-the-beaten-path destinations.
Further findings show Toowoomba in Queensland as the most searched hidden gem destination, attracting nearly a million searches in the past year.
