The Tasman Hobart welcomes Carolyn Smith as general manager

The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart has announced the appointment of Carolyn Smith as general manager, bringing over her wealth of expertise to the prestigious role.

Since 2021, Carolyn Smith has served as the opening general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens, establishing the property as a market leader. She was named GM of the Year 2023 for Marriott Brand Select Brand Hotels in the APEC region, a testament to her strong leadership and work ethic.

A seasoned hospitality professional, Carolyn Smith began her career in 2001 at The Westin Melbourne, venturing to London in 2010 to gain international experience with a role at The Langham London.

Upon returning to Australia in 2014, she led the opening of the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel as executive assistant manager of Rooms. Following this, Carolyn Smith demonstrated exceptional operational leadership as director of operations at Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas in 2019, where she implemented strategic changes that drove significant growth for the resort alongside her team.

Carolyn Smith’s appointment at The Tasman marks an exciting new chapter for the hotel as she brings her track record of operations excellence and innovative leadership to Hobart’s most-awarded luxury hotel.

Having been named Accommodation Venue of the Year at the 2024 Australia Hotels Association (AHA) National Awards for Excellence, in addition to being named No.49 in the global ranking of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024, The Tasman is an outstanding leader in the accommodation and hotel landscape.
