Have you ever considered how safe the country you’re travelling to is? What about your own backyard?

Does it factor into your decision making when considering holiday plans?

Using World Economic Forum data, Door Control Direct have mapped 141 countries to reveal just how safe they are.

The safety ranking is based on the levels of the costliness of common crime and violence, as well as acts of terrorism and how reliable the police services are in any given country.

Finland takes out the title of the safest country in the world, with a safety and security level of 6.7.

Australia has made it in at 13th place, with a safety and security rating of 6.24! Go us!

We beat out both the UK, who made it in at 63rd place with a rating of 5.44, and the USA at 73rd place with a safety and security level of 5.32.

However, our neighbour and rival New Zealand beat us coming in at 7th place. Damn those Kiwis!
