Perisher is kicking off the long weekend in some serious style, bringing the goods for this year’s snow season.

After 30cm of fresh snow, and prime snowmaking conditions, the snow field giant announced the early mark for keen skiers, with the Village 8 Express lift operating on Front Valley.

A beginner skier conveyer on Front Valley will also have snow bunnies carving up their first tracks of the season, while on Saturday, Perisher Quad Express will open to Mid Station, and will continue to the top of Perisher Valley for foot passengers looking to sightsee.

From Saturday 11 lifts will operate across Perisher Valley and Smiggin Holes and two terrain parks will be built and ready to ride. Further lifts may open following forecast excellent snowmaking conditions in the coming days.

Great tobogganing and snow play opportunities will be available in a designated and groomed snow play area at Tubetown.

Perisher’s ceo Peter Brulisauer said the early dump of snow was setting the resort up for a top seasons.

“We are very excited to be able to provide our guests with some great skiing and boarding options for the opening weekend,” he said.

“Early season snowfalls and our extensive snowmaking system have allowed us to prepare Perisher for a fantastic start to the season.”

Perisher will cater for all standards this weekend with the hire outlets offering guests everything they need from toboggans  to ski clothing and skis and snowboards.

The PlayStation Slopestyle Terrain Park will be up and running for Friday’s opening keeping the freestyle skiers and snowboarders happy with a great range of features accessed from the Village 8 Express, and for those more apre inclined, there’s a chilly music festival to get amongst.

Peak Festival will provide the weekend’s entertainment in eight venues around the resort, featuring 35 artists and over 120 performances. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the new winter.

And if that’s not enough to get excited about shredding the slopes in this fresh new season, have a peek at these snaps to get the energy you need.
