Innovations in biometric technology are fast becoming the new norm in Airports, as face scans and fingerprinting begin to replace boarding passes.
But Delta Airlines have stretched the concept a little further, now offering passengers the option of biometric entry to its airport lounges, reports CNBC.
Travellers usually need to show a boarding pass or membership card to enter the lounge, but now, if you’re a US citizen or permanent resident with a Delta Sky Club membership, you can present two fingers instead.
We kid, making gestures like this one will probably get you kicked out of the lounge, rather than entry.
The new initiative is part of Delta’s partnership with biometric company Clear, which aims to offer a “frictionless travel experience”.
Clear also offers memberships at some airports, which will help you skip security lines if you provide them with your fingerprints, and an iris scan.
Membership will set you back around $235.
Delta is not the only airline experimenting with biometrics, JetBlue and Lufthansa are also working with Customs and Border Protection in the US to help speed up security processes and provide what Clear co-founder Ken Cornick calls the “curb-to-gate” process, according to CNBC.
“The beautiful thing about this, your boarding pass is embedded in your identity,” said Cornick.
