Novotel Sydney City Centre, operated by Accor, announced the completion of its $20 million refurbishment.

The recently transformed 283-room hotel located on York Street is the first Australian Novotel hotel to present a room from Novotel’s designers in Paris called ‘Hypothesis’, which centres around the ethos of creating a hotel with less environmental waste and also decreasing wasted space and time.

This design philosophy creates rooms and public spaces that moves with guests. There is an echo of nature within the interior design concept, curated by Australian design studio Dezign. All 22 floors of the re-imagined Mercure Sydney Wynyard present mood-lit hallways with earthy carpets and wood detail panels to lead guests their rooms and suites.

All rooms boast natural lighting and views of Sydney’s CBD, with some suites presenting partial water views of Sydney Harbour, and balcony rooms and suites enjoy vistas of Wynyard Park. Located on the two highest floors, levels 21 and 22, Superior One Bedroom Suites offer a 42 square metre modern space.

Kim Stredder, GM of Novotel Sydney City Centre said: “We want guests to achieve the balance they seek during their stay. Room furnishings are flexible allowing guests to customise their stays. We have created an environment that’s ideal for corporate travellers, families and couples. This level of dynamism in design will allow guests to truly create a home away from home, and an office away from the office.”

As part of one of the largest hotel portfolio management deals, global fund manager Salter Brothers, alongside Accor, have together delivered a transformation of the property in its central city location.

Paul Salter, MD of Salter Brothers added: “We’re delighted to elevate this hotel under the Novotel brand. Novotel resonates so well across the globe and is an instantly recognisable name in the midscale hotel space. I’m so proud of our team and what they’ve achieved with this property.

“The well-situated location of the hotel, in the busy and central Sydney CBD, enables guests to enjoy high street shopping, Circular Quay, the Opera House, Barangaroo, and some of Australia’s most renowned restaurants and bars.”

Novotel Sydney City Centre will introduce the Novotel Fitness Studio, next year (2024) and a new dining concept with a renowned chef will also be unveiled in January 2024, bringing a new level of culinary excellence to the heart of Sydney’s CBD.

Guests of Novotel Sydney City Centre can also indulge in a Pillow Menu, set to launch in early 2024.
