Perched along the golden sands of Da Nang, TIA Wellness Resort is redefining what it means to check into a luxury health and spa retreat.
This isn’t simply a fly-and-flop beach break – it’s a fully immersive wellness experience where spa treatments, mindful movement and nourishing cuisine are part of the daily rhythm.
Originally opened 15 years ago under a different name, TIA – meaning “ray of light” (pronounced thee-ah) – was rebranded five years ago with a renewed focus on total, inclusive wellness. The concept is simple but powerful: everything is designed to support guests without pressure, rigid schedules or deprivation.
A spa sanctuary by the sea
The spa is the heart of the resort – and it makes an impression. Finished in striking black slate tiles with white and grey furnishings, the design strikes that sweet spot between contemporary luxury and calming minimalism. Think plush lounges, quiet corners and tropical greenery softening every edge.
With 22 treatment rooms – including 16 double rooms for couples and the remainder singles – the space is expansive without ever feeling crowded. On any given day, the resort might host between 180 and 200 guests, yet clever design ensures there’s always space to breathe.
There are 92 practitioners delivering more than 30 treatments, spanning everything from massage and Reiki to holistic therapies. A visiting Reiki Master regularly trains staff, with practitioners also sent to certified venues to deepen their expertise.
My own Harmony Healing massage with Quinn was a standout – intuitive, restorative and deeply grounding. The experience begins from the moment you arrive, greeted with a refreshing mint and butterfly pea tea before being guided into the spa’s tranquil embrace.
Outside, the facilities continue to impress: one infinity pool overlooking the coastline and another serene pool fed by a cascading waterfall, surrounded by lush tropical gardens.
A beautiful, nurturing creative space offering daily workshops designed to help you reconnect with yourself through art and creative expression.
Here, paint, colour, texture, and imagination become tools for self-discovery. There’s no pressure to “be good” at art – only an invitation to explore.
Gently guided by an experienced facilitator, you’ll be encouraged to dive deeper, uncover insights, and express what words sometimes cannot. The instructor doesn’t teach technique in the traditional sense, but instead holds space and asks thoughtful questions, helping you realise more about yourself with every brushstroke.
This is more than an art class – it’s a journey inward.

Wellness, without the rule book
TIA operates on a “wellness inclusive” model, with packages from around US$500 per person, per night. This includes signature treatments, daily wellness activities and breakfast – which, in a refreshing twist, is served all day. No rushing. No strict timetables. No pressure to “fix” yourself.
The philosophy rests on four pillars: Nourish, Flow, Breathe and Create.
Guests can start the day with yoga overlooking banana trees and dense foliage – from strong, dynamic classes to Ashtanga sessions – before moving into breathwork, Tai Chi or creative workshops focused on process rather than product. Staff themselves are encouraged to participate in yoga and breathwork, ensuring they genuinely understand – and embody – the calm they’re helping guests cultivate.
Food that feels good
The culinary offering leans heavily into plant-based dining, but without the preachiness or restriction often associated with wellness resorts. There’s no white sugar, no white flour and no MSG, yet dishes feel abundant and satisfying rather than limiting.
Seasonal produce is sourced locally, and the resort boasts Vietnam’s first fully organic and biodynamic wine list – a thoughtful addition for guests who want to indulge mindfully.
Breakfast, enjoyed overlooking the ocean, is a highlight. From nourishing bowls to beautifully prepared pancakes, everything feels considered. Nothing is out of place; no expense spared.
Private villas and perfect comfort
Set across four hectares of beachfront land, TIA comprises 87 private villas, each with its own plunge pool. The villas are generous and beautifully appointed — big, supremely comfortable beds, perfect room temperatures and an effortless indoor-outdoor flow.
It’s the kind of space where you sleep deeply and wake naturally.
A gateway to central Vietnam
TIA is located around 30 minutes from Da Nang’s airport and close to the towering Lady Buddha statue – famously twice the height of Rio’s Christ the Redeemer. Or dive deep into the beautiful Huyen Khong Cave, the most famous cave, has a natural skylight: a large opening in the ceiling that allows shafts of sunlight to stream in, creating an ethereal, almost heavenly glow on the giant Buddha statue and shrines below. This dramatic play of light and shadow gives the cave a peaceful, almost otherworldly fee.
While Da Nang itself isn’t UNESCO-listed, it’s a thriving coastal city with a lively beach promenade, restaurant scene and strong local culture rooted in government administration and garment manufacturing.
For a tailor-made wardrobe update, Hoi An is within easy reach – and the resort offers a complimentary shuttle service between 11am and 4pm.
For the more adventurous, the hills and mountains to the north provide ample opportunity to explore beyond the beach.

When to go
February to May is widely considered the sweet spot for weather, with warm but manageable temperatures. July and August can be super hot – ideal for sun seekers, less so for those who prefer milder climates.
TIA Wellness Resort isn’t about extremes. There’s no dogma, no enforced silence, no rigid doctrine. Religions and belief systems are treated evenly, and the environment is inclusive rather than prescriptive.
Instead, it’s about balance. Space. Service. And the luxury of time.
For Australians seeking a wellness escape that blends beachfront indulgence with genuine restorative depth, TIA offers a compelling reason to book that flight north.
