The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has announced it is showcasing Godzilla as part of the “Tokyo Night & Light” event, ahead of the iconic monster’s 70th anniversary.

The ongoing spectacular projection mapping show transforms the Tokyo Metropolitan Government No. 1 Building in Shinjuku into a vibrant canvas, now certified by the GuinessWorld Records as the largest permanent display of its kind in the world, covering an astonishing 13,905sqm.

Each night, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in a dazzling array of visuals, created by a dynamic mix of local and international artists. The showcases honour Tokyo’s rich cultural heritage while exploring diverse themes such as the lunar cycle.

On weeknights, audiences can enjoy captivating performances including “Evolution”, “Lunar Cycle”, “Synergy”, “Poetic Structures”, and “Golden Fortune”. A newly introduced show, “Butai ni tatte”, features a soundtrack by the hit Japanese pop duo Yoasobi, providing a modern twist to the evening’s festivities.

Weekends feature a special showcase, “Godzilla: Attack on Tokyo!”, along with “Butai ni tatte” and “Tokyo Concerto”, a stunning display that highlights beloved Tokyo attractions paired with enchanting music.

Projection shows are held nightly from 6:30pm (6pm in October and 5:30pm from November to December) until 9:45pm.
