Tom Hoster Is Back And He’s Got Zoom Envy

We are all familiar with Zoom fatigue – it’s that feeling of exhaustion at the end of a day dominated by back-to-back Zoom video calls. Tom Hoster, Travel Weekly’s North American Correspondent says Zoom Envy is not that.

We have just returned from a trip to Antarctica with Aurora Expeditions that took us south of the Antarctic Circle.  Every day of our trip included outings from the ship on Zodiacs to visit sites of interest onshore – penguins, birds, abandoned and active research stations, and so on.

There was one morning expedition to an island, though, where we were not allowed to step ashore; the wildlife was plentiful, but it was too protected to allow human intervention.

That’s where the Zoom Envy started:  the photographers on the Zodiac all pulled out their finest, longest, widest, most impressive, most expensive zoom lenses, and started snapping away.  At that point, the competition was on! – for who on the Zodiac had the finest, longest, widest, most impressive, and most expensive lens.  Zoom Envy had set in!

And, yes, all of the photographers were men.
