GlobalData has crunched the numbers to uncover the top 10 travel and tourism influencers, and they are not who you’d expect.

The data company analysed its travel and tourism influencer platform, which tracks around 200 industry experts and their discussions around emerging trends, pain areas, new fields of innovation and other popular areas on Twitter to uncover who wields the most influence.

Jackie De Burca, founder of travel community Travel Inspires, was named the top influencer during the second quarter of 2020. De Burca was followed by Sonja Holverson, co-founder of travel content community Outbounding.org, with a score of 81; and Melvin Bocher, founder and CEO of TravelDudes, with an influencer score of 78.

Tripadvisor was the most mentioned company among influencers discussions, followed by GetYourGuide and Expedia.

The discussions related to TripAdvisor revealed how the company is enabling users to search and find hotels and restaurants taking safety measures like social distancing policies and mask-wearing guidelines to restore consumer confidence during this pandemic.

Among the trends, destination, family travel, LGBT travel and cruise emerged as the most mentioned among influencer discussions on travel and tourism.
