A woman has copped widespread criticism after posting footage of herself on the edge of a waterfall as she posed for photos.

The woman, a 25-year-old student hailing from the US, posted pics and a video of herself to Instagram on the edge of Devil’s Pool at Victoria Falls in Zambia, which happens to be a 500-metre drop.

She captioned the photo “Life on the edge, it’s beautiful here”.

The post has attracted more than 42,000 likes and thousands of comments, with many people urging her to “value your life”.

“My body is shaking just from watching this! Value your life, sister,” one commenter wrote.

“Babe, don’t ever do that again. It’s definitely beautiful, but not cool,” said another.

The woman posted to her YouTube channel to defend the post, saying “it was literally a wall – I was laying on a wall”.

“I’m not crazy. I was laying on something, but I’m not telling you all the tricks,” she said.

According to 7 News, the influencer said she had taken the trip to Zambia during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
