Although initially developed with the leisure travel industry in mind, the creators of the Anaconda Travel SIM are catching onto the immense potential offered by the corporate travel sector.
Co-founder Bruce Hansen told The Nibbler that several companies are currently trialling the product which he claimed offers travellers "stability" thanks to its network of agreements with telecommunications companies in more than 200 countries, along with significant savings on regular roaming costs.
"We've come to realise that we've got quite a few large customers spending hundreds and hundreds of thousands a year on executives travelling overseas," he said.
As a result, the firm is working hard to iron out potential difficulties corporates may encounter when using the system, such as the $500 limit and the need for someone based in the office to administer the account.
The system offers "peace of mind" to companies concerned by roaming costs that can frequently run as high as thousands of dollars, with Anaconda happy to consider raising the upper limit upon request.
Meanwhile, Hansen revealed that 350 of the cards are now in use following Anaconda's launch six weeks ago.
"That may sound relatively small compared to our competitors, but considering it's from a standing start, we're very pleased," he said.
