Travelmarvel has officially expanded its European fleet with the inaugural sailing of its newest river ship, the Travelmarvel Rigel, which departed Amsterdam on 30 June 2026 on the operator’s classic European Gems Amsterdam to Budapest itinerary.
The Rigel joins sister ships Polaris, Capella and Vega on the Rhine, Main and Danube, completing a four-strong fleet that is entirely custom-designed and built to a consistent specification. The ship carries a maximum of 178 passengers across 89 cabins, with a crew of 44.
APT Travel Group CEO David Cox said the launch reflected the company’s ongoing commitment to the river cruise sector. “With four purpose-built ships now operating across the Rhine, Main and Danube, we’re building a fleet defined by smart design, innovation and a clear focus on the guest,” he said. “Our priority is straightforward – creating seamless journeys that deliver outstanding value and leave guests feeling confident in their decision to travel.”
Onboard facilities include an open-air Sun Deck with jacuzzi, an onboard gym, and three dining and bar venues: Constellations Restaurant for fine dining, True North Lounge for casual meals and drinks, and McGeary’s Bar. Owner’s Suites and French-style Balcony Suites feature electronic slide-down windows.
The inaugural departure will be marked with a sail-away party, with guests and crew gathering on the Sun Deck on day two for a ceremonial ringing of the ship’s bell.
Travelmarvel positions itself as a value river cruise operator.
