TRAVLR Group has partnered up with Mediaworks to launch an online travel marketplace in New Zealand.
Wandr will provide audiences across radio, outdoor and digital assets “an inspirational content and travel platform”, whilst leveraging its “stable of well-known personalities” to create content and promote destinations and experiences that can be booked on the site, app or with its travel concierge team based in New Zealand once borders are opens and it is safe to do so.
Wandr is TRAVLR Group’s second online joint venture with a media company in 2020, having teamed up with Network 10 here in Australia to launch 10 Travlr earlier this year.
The online travel marketplace launched last week with QT properties in Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown and Australia with up to 53 per cent off.
Wandr offers a voucher model where consumers can “buy now, decide and book later” that also includes ‘flexi stays’ and full cash refunds on all accommodation deals.
Gordy Bayne, chief revenue and marketing officer at TRAVLR Group, said: “In a new COVID ‘normal’ world, we identified the opportunity in the NZ market for consumers to share their experiences as a user-generated community and deliver a modern pricing model of both dynamic and flash sale to dream, plan, book and share based on current trends of vacations that are focused on road trips, open spaces and the great outdoors, so a brand name like Wandr was appropriate and born.”
The launch of Wandr coincides with the appointment of Cam Wallace as Mediaworks’ next CEO.
Wallace was up until recently the chief commercial and customer officer at Air New Zealand, and will take over from Michael Anderson at the media company in the new year.
