Alex O’Connor of Virgin Australia has been confirmed as the new managing director of Insight Vacations Australia, replacing Joost Timmer who departs The Travel Corporation this month.

O’Connor, who is currently regional manager NSW at the airline, will take up the reigns on February 8. With more than 15 years of travel industry experience, she has previously held roles with Air New Zealand, American Express and Flight Centre.

TTC Australia chief executive John Veitch and Insight Vacations chief executive John Boulding welcomed O’Connor to the “family”, highlighting her “excellent” credentials.

“We are all looking forward to Alex to deliver even greater success for Insight Vacations in Australia,” Veitch said.

“Australia has always been an incredibly important market for us and with Alex now at the helm, we look forward to further strengthening out invaluable relationships with the trade,” Boulding added.

Last month, TTC announced Timmer would depart the organisation after four years as managing director of Insight to “pursue other opportunities”.
