Tulia has officially debuted in Australia with aims to deliver East African safari experiences at an affordable price.

The brand was specifically developed to directly respond to strong industry demand for access to a high-quality, experience-led safari circuit at affordable price points. Rates start from US$255 per night for two people.

Tulia, sister brand to Lemala Camps & Lodges, enters the Australian market with an immediate four-property portfolio built on the acquisition of Wild Frontiers’ Uganda properties and activities business, along with Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp in Kenya.

Tulia provides travellers experiences such as such as gorilla trekking in Bwindi, shoebill excursions and hot air ballooning over Mt Kilimanjaro. The brand also pairs five-star comforts and local cuisine with sustainability initiatives, including Amboseli’s E3 Sisterherd Initiative, an onsite workshop where Maasai women make and sell reusable sanitary pad kits.

Tulia also opens up a new multi-country safari loop across Kenya and Uganda for Australian agents to sell.

The brand plans to expand further with a Maasai Mara property acquisition in 2027, which will complete a more affordable full East African circuit. The expansion comes as Uganda shifts from a primate-trekking add-on to a standalone safari destination.

“Historically, agents sent clients to Kenya or Tanzania for game viewing and tacked Uganda onto the end purely for gorilla trekking,” Tulia & Lemala Camps managing director Leanne Haigh said. “That dynamic has shifted completely. A traveller’s budget stretches significantly further in Uganda, and when you combine world-class primate trekking with tree-climbing lions in Ishasha and dramatic game viewing in Murchison Falls, Uganda delivers a complete, highly price-competitive safari in its own right.”

Agents can find out more at the brand’s website.
